In an era where education is rapidly evolving, will the schools of the future be vast, impersonal institutions or personalised hubs that foster individual growth? At Minerva's Virtual Academy (MVA), we're already forging the path towards the latter. Our foundation is built upon a commitment to personalised learning, providing an environment where each student's unique needs, interests, and strengths are recognised, nurtured, and celebrated.

What is Personalised Learning?

Personalised learning is a learner-centric approach that tailors the educational experience to meet the unique needs and strengths of each student. It's not about teaching one-size-fits-all lessons; instead, it's about recognising and nurturing the individual learning styles, preferences, and interests of each student, ensuring they're not just passive recipients but active participants in their learning journey.

Now let's see how Lawrence and our teachers bring this concept to life...

Mentoring: A Personal Guide for Each Student's Journey

Imagine if every student had a personal guide, a mentor, who could provide tailored guidance and support throughout their educational journey. That's exactly what we offer at MVA.

Our mentors aren't just another teacher. They are a consistent source of support, helping students with everything from setting academic goals to managing their time effectively, all while keeping a keen eye on their overall well-being. The mentor-student partnership at MVA is truly unique, it's a system where the success of our students is as personal to us as it is to them.

Small Class Sizes: Amplifying the Power of Live Lessons

Quality over quantity - it’s a familiar concept that holds true in education. In our Live Lessons, we've swapped the large webinar-style classes that many online schools use for small, intimate class sizes. This way, our teachers can provide more individualised attention to each student.

Through our approach, we've created an environment that champions active participation and collaboration. Every voice is heard, every question answered, and every student engaged. Small class sizes are an essential part of making learning personal at MVA.

Virtual Learning Platform: Tailored, Flexible and Engaging

Our Virtual Learning Platform, also known as Canvas, offers a revolutionary way to learn. It's like having a digital textbook that can adapt to your individual learning style. With resources available anytime, anywhere, it gives our students the freedom to learn at their own pace, fostering self-sufficiency and accountability.

MVA for Every Student: Recognising and Supporting Individuality

MVA's student community is truly global and diverse, with each student bringing their own unique learning needs, aspirations, and stories. This diversity shapes the character of our virtual classrooms and contributes to a vibrant learning community.

  • Empowered Learners: We provide a supportive environment that bolsters confidence and alleviates anxieties.
  • Passionate Pursuers: Artists, musicians, or actors in the making find the flexibility they need to juggle their bustling schedules without sacrificing a solid education.
  • Aspiring Achievers: We unlock the potential of students through accelerated learning opportunities.
  • Diverse Thinkers: We offer personalised support tailored to SEND or neurodiverse learning needs, ensuring an inclusive learning environment for all.
  • Global Scholars: Our internationally mobile families appreciate the consistency and quality of British education, irrespective of where life takes them.

This diversity in our student body is not only our strength but also a testament to our commitment to personalised learning at MVA.

Our History & Method: Pioneering Personalised Education

So, how did we end up here at MVA, at the forefront of a new era in education where we are pioneering a far more personal approach to education? Our roots trace back to the establishment of our sister-company Minerva Tutors, in 2014. Initially, a tutoring company, Minerva Tutors blossomed into the UK's largest provider of homeschooling and personal one-to-one tuition, championing a philosophy that focused not only on academic success but also on building confidence and fostering motivation.

This fresh approach to education was the brainchild of Minerva's founder, Hugh Viney. Hugh’s vision of an educational alternative that both elevates academic standards and boosts confidence now forms the cornerstone of MVA's approach

Fast forward to 2020, the world was hit by an unprecedented pandemic, and education, like many other sectors, faced a massive disruption. As traditional classrooms around the world abruptly transformed into virtual ones, we were able to expand our ethos of personalised education beyond the realm of one-to-one tuition.

This is when Minerva's Virtual Academy (MVA) was born. We took the effective principles of personal tuition and applied them to a virtual school setting. Through this transition, we've not just adapted to the changing times, but we have made significant strides in revolutionising education for the 21st century. Our commitment to personalised learning remains unwavering, and it’s a cornerstone of our school that sets us apart.

Personalisation is more than an educational strategy at MVA. It’s a philosophy that shapes every aspect of our approach to learning. It’s the cornerstone of our mission to help every child unlock their full potential, to equip them with the skills they need to thrive in the 21st Century, and, ultimately, to redefine the way we think about education.

Join us at MVA today, and let's make your learning journey an extraordinary one
