Minerva's Virtual Academy, is thrilled to announce it has granted a coveted three-year scholarship, valued at €23,000, to one of the most promising players on the Tennis Europe Junior Tour. After an extensive and thorough application process by Tennis Europe, which saw candidates from the 48 active member nations of Tennis Europe apply, Andrei Radu emerged as the deserving recipient after selection by a panel of Tennis Europe delegates. The scholarship will enable Radu to commence his studies with Minerva in September, starting from Year 9 and proceeding to pursue his IGCSEs in Year 10 and 11.

Aged 14, Radu perfectly exemplifies the ideal candidate for an online education system. As he aims to advance his current Top 50 ranking, Radu frequently travels across Europe to participate in various tournaments. Notably, he recently represented his country at the prestigious European Junior Championships in the Czech Republic. With his remarkable dedication to his sport, Radu has participated in tournaments in his home country, Bulgaria, and Italy, and is currently competing in the esteemed Super Category tournament in Düren, Germany.

Having a keen interest in English and History, Radu expressed his excitement and gratitude, stating, "I'm really excited and very happy. This is a great opportunity for me and gives me much more flexibility. Time is my biggest challenge, getting from courts to school and vice versa. This will give me much more time to study as I can simply hop online!"

The selection process, overseen by a panel of Tennis Europe committee members, thoroughly assessed the candidates to choose the most deserving recipient for this prestigious scholarship. Tennis Europe CEO Thomas Hammerl commented, "Through our partnership with Minerva, we have been showcasing the availability of high-quality alternative schooling systems for elite young athletes, which can seamlessly complement their rigorous training schedules and ensure they do not miss out on vital education. We are delighted to offer this opportunity to Andrei, who exhibits great promise both on and off the court, and we eagerly look forward to tracking his progress over the next three years."

Minerva's Virtual Academy Elite Athlete Education Officer Fabian Spiess said,

"We're delighted to be able to offer this scholarship to Andrei and have him join our valuable elite athlete community at MVA. We know that a flexible education is essential for Andrei to help him take the next step in his tennis career but also academically. Giving him flexibility around his education for the next 3 years will hopefully see Andrei get one step closer to achieving his dream without compromising on what are also essential years for him in the classroom.

We're really looking forward to following Andrei's progress and seeing where this next step can take him."

Minerva's Virtual Academy is proud to be the only online school offering dedicated support to  the development of young talent like Andrei Radu, and remains committed to empowering athletes with top-tier education, granting them the flexibility they need to excel in both their sports and academic pursuits. As Andrei embarks on this transformative educational journey, MVA extends its best wishes for his continued success in tennis and academics alike.
