We are proud to announce our IGCSE results for 2023/24. These results reflect the achievements of all our students, whether they sat their exams in private exam centres or at home through Pearson's new Remote Invigilation Service (RIS), with whom we partnered this year.
For students who took their exams in private exam centres, we are pleased to report that 72.9% achieved grades 4-9, exceeding this year's GCSE national average of 67.4%. Regarding top grades, 19.4% of our students achieved 7-9, compared to the national average of 21.7% and matching the secondary comprehensive school average of 19.4%. These results represent a significant accomplishment for all involved, and we are delighted to be surpassing the national average pass rate. Nationally, the average grade awarded in 2024 was 4.80. At MVA for students sitting exams in physical centres (i.e. not online), it was 5.04 (5% higher than the national average).
For the 86 students who took their exams remotely through Pearson's RIS, we saw varied outcomes reflecting the unique needs and challenges faced by these students. Despite these challenges, 62.8% of grades were in the 4-9 range, 46.7% were in the 5-9 range, and 17.1% were in the 7-9 range. These results are particularly impressive considering that many of these students either joined us partway through their iGCSE programme or required additional learning support, and we are especially proud that this group also included students who achieved the highest grades—demonstrating the viability of the RIS going forward.
The results in specific subjects within the RIS group were equally commendable. In English Language, 78.9% of students achieved grades 4-9, and in Maths, 68.8% of students achieved grades 4-9.
Based on the results collected from our first, small cohort of A Level graduates this year, 32% of grades were A or A*, and 56% of grades were C to A*. Several students earned A* grades across all their subjects. We are equally proud of all our students and celebrate those who earned lower grades but made significant progress, especially considering the challenges they may have faced in previous school environments. We’re delighted to see our graduates move on to prestigious universities such as Glasgow, UCL, LSE, Tsinghua University China, and the Institute of the Arts Barcelona, while many others are taking routes into employment or pursuing alternative pathways.
As a proudly non-selective school, MVA is deeply committed to nurturing the unique potential of each student. We believe that true success is measured not just by grades, but by the personal growth and progress each student makes on their individual journey. Our focus is on empowering every student to overcome challenges, embrace their strengths, and develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive in the future. These results are a testament to the hard work, resilience, and determination of our students, and we couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved. Congratulations to all our students for their incredible accomplishments—you’ve shown that with the right support and mindset, anything is possible.
