Embracing Our Diversity: Cultural Explosion Week at MVA

On Sunday, May 21st, we kicked off a very special week in the school calendar. A week that celebrates our diverse roots and shared unity - a celebration sparked by the World Day for Cultural Diversity.

This week, our student voice group, Vulcan, have taken the reins, curating an exciting roster of activities that takes us on a vibrant journey across the world, right from our screens.

Let's dive into what's in store:

Monday: Vulcan kick-started the week with a trivia quiz. Questions revolved around the various countries that our MVA community comes from. It was a fun opportunity to learn more about our global family!

‍Tuesday: It’s time to challenge our language skills. We encourage everyone to greet each other in a language different from their own, an engaging way to understand and appreciate our linguistic diversity.

Wednesday: Who's up for a gastronomic journey? Our MVA kitchen invites all to a virtual feast of diverse cuisines. But the adventure doesn’t end there: we're staging a half-term cook-off where students can recreate a dish from a different culture. Share your culinary triumphs with us!

Thursday: Today, we're transforming our Google Meet classrooms into a global stage. Students can change their virtual backgrounds to display their national flags, making every session a celebration of national pride.

Friday: To wrap up our Cultural Explosion Week, we’re having a dress-up day. Don your national colours or traditional attire and show off your heritage!

This week also marks the launch of the Cultural Sound Explosion Project. It's a platform for students to share videos greeting in their native language and talking about something or someone inspirational from their culture. We can't wait to witness the myriad of accents, languages, and cultural insights in this unique project.

We're not just an Online School. We're a global community that celebrates the beauty of diversity and unity. This week, as we enjoy our Cultural Explosion, we’re embracing our differences, learning about each other, and creating connections that go beyond textbooks.
